NEW
PUBLICATION ON RAILROAD-CROSSING SAFETY
The
Angels on Track Foundation—an Ohio-based, non-profit
foundation dedicated to improving safety at the more than
4,000 unprotected (non-gated) railroad crossings in Ohio—announces
the availability of its latest publication, Local
Officials’
Handbook on Railroad-Crossing Safety in Ohio. The 161-page Handbook
was created to be an educational resource and working document. It provides
comprehensive information on a multitude of aspects and issues involved in
the administration of providing safety at railroad grade crossing intersections.
A significant portion of the Handbook identifies federal and state laws;
in addition to offering alternative roles that local officials can play in
helping to resolve safety problems in their jurisdictions.
The Handbook is unique in both its span of coverage and depth of analysis. It
is offered in a loose-leaf format so that statistical, legislative and other
relevant data can be updated by the Foundation and/or users as such information
becomes available.
Complimentary copies will be presented to each county board of commissioners
and county engineers at the upcoming Ohio County Commissioners/County Engineers
Association Annual Winter Conference held December 1-December 2, 2003 in Columbus,
Ohio. Additional copies may be obtained after the conference by contacting the
Foundation at 330-738-3197 or visiting the website at: www.angelsontrack.org
